The All Party Parliamentary Group for International Students held its AGM on Monday 19th August 2018 at Kaplan International College London.  BAISIS was delighted to attend in our capacity as a member of the Advisory group to the APPG.  The meeting was ably chaired by Lord Karan Bilimoria.  The meeting reviewed 2018-19 activity, including the November 2018 Inquiry Report on international education “A Sustainable Future for International Student in the UK” which can be found on the APPG website, and planned events for the coming year.  The effect of Brexit on perceptions of the UK as a global education location were discussed and it was noted that the UK has been overtaken by New Zealand in the number of Indian students choosing to study here.
All members of the group Exporting Education UK (a BAISIS partner) were given APPG Supporter status in recognition of the finding they provide to the APPG through their membership fees.  BAISIS schools are represented by BAISIS but individual schools may still join and are encouraged to do so, as for the sum of £250 per annum you may attend events at the House of Commons and House of Lords and support the work being done in this sector.
