After teaching at Ampleforth College in Yorkshire, Julian became Director of the International Study Centre at Box Hill School in 2002, where he is also IB Co-ordinator and Housemaster of the Sixth Form Boys’ House. Following six years as Secretary, he became BAISIS Deputy Chairman in 2013. He was elected as BAISIS Chairman to succeed Caroline Nixon in October 2015.

Helen has more than 20 years of experience working in English language teaching both in the UK and overseas. Since 2002 she has worked primarily in roles involving academic management and curriculum leadership within the Independent school sector. Helen has a particular interest in staff development. She has been chair of d’Overbroeck’s College CPD group, runs the Oxford English Teachers Forum and is involved in T&D for BAISIS, delivering workshops on topics such as cultural awareness, English language training for mainstream subject teachers and preparing for inspections. Helen was elected as BAISIS Deputy Chairman in October 2015.

Mark is a Director of Bishopstrow College, where he is responsible for developing the College’s relationships with agents, partner schools and other stakeholders. Since joining Bishopstrow in 2014, he has started to develop an expertise in UKVI compliance, including Teaching Partnerships. He is also Deputy Chairman of Exporting Education UK. Mark was elected to the BAISIS Executive Committee in October 2015.

Caroline Nixon has worked in international education for over 25 years and runs her own consultancy, Caroline Nixon Education Ltd. For 11 years, she was Principal of Taunton School International during which time she expanded the one-year GCSE course and opened a separate Middle School for younger children aged 8-14. Caroline was Chairman of BAISIS for six years, during which time the organisation rebranded and achieved a six-fold increase in membership. Caroline was appointed General Secretary in Oct 2015.

Sue’s career in international education has included teaching, academic management, summer schools, marketing and recruitment. She currently works as an ELT consultant. She has been the BAISIS conference organiser for five years and became BAISIS’s Executive Officer in 2013.
